d. 15th October 2022, U.S.A.

Joyce Sims was born in Rochester, New York, in 1959.

Joyce studied music at college where she learned a number of musical instruments.

Unable to play professionally at first, she took a job in a hamburger bar and wrote songs in her spare time.

One of her songs was overheard by an agent who introduced her to Ron Resnick at Sleeping Bag Records, the label she signed to in 1986.

Working with producer Mantronik (of Mantronix), her debut single 'All And All' (UK Top 20) was followed by 'Lifetime Love' (U K Top 40, 1987).

The title track of her first album 'Come Into My Life' (UK Top 10, 1987) became a club anthem and was frequently played on the better soul stations.

The follow-up was 'All About Love' (1989), including, the excellent, 'Don't Let This Feeling Die' (UK Top 30) and 'Looking For A Love'.

The album also contained her version of the Carole King / Jerry Wexler / Gerry Goffin tune, 'Natural Woman'.

Since that time Joyce had adopted a low profile, ocassionally touring in the U.K.

Joyce died in October 2022 from unknown causes at this time.
